The “Power of 4” & Scripture Engagement
Believe the Best – The Surprising Stats on Bible Reading
Hi friend,
This is one of my favourite pieces of research ever. When I first heard it courtesy of
from I was soooo excited for the implications for my friends (and for those I don’t yet know)!Research with over 400,000 participants found that engaging with the Bible four times a week or more (only four times, and it can be audio/listening if reading is not your thing) drastically reduces harmful habits and negative emotions. Some of the findings included:
Feeling lonely drops by 30%
Anger issues drop by 32%
Bitterness in relationships drops by 40%
Alcoholism drops by 57%
Pornography use drops by 61%
And sharing your faith skyrockets by 200%!
This is the “Power of 4.” Four times a week in the Word. That’s it!
When we saturate our minds with God’s truth, it transforms how we think and live. If you’re struggling to get into the Bible regularly, try small steps: set a reminder, follow a short reading plan, or use an audio Bible on your commute. Reading along in community is another huge way of finding accountability and joy for the journey.
Check out the reading plans, mini studies and deep dives from www.thedevotedcollective.org for inspiration and studies that combine deep theology and Spirit-inspired application. It’s head + heart, and I believe you’ll love them!
Or keep hanging with me in this space and we can cheer each other on!
Little habits pave the way for big spiritual shifts.
Rooting for you,
Em
This is true in my life! I am a better version of myself in every way when I stay in the Word and pray consistently.
I listen to the Daily Audio Bible podcast. Daily Bible readings from OT, NT, Psalms and Proverbs followed by a short commentary then community prayer requests. Encouraging and a safe space 🩷
