You’ll Find What You’re Looking For—So Choose Wisely
Your brain filters the world based on what you expect.
Hi friends,
Ever learned a new word and then suddenly started hearing it everywhere?
It’s not magic—it’s something called confirmation bias. Your brain naturally scans for evidence of what it already believes or expects.
And that doesn’t just apply to words—it applies to faith, too.
If you assume people are against you, you’ll begin to notice every off glance or comment as confirmation.
If you believe God is distant, you’ll interpret unanswered prayers or hard days as proof that He’s not close.
But if you truly believe God is good?
You’ll start noticing His goodness showing up in the most unexpected places:
A moment of peace in a busy day
An encouraging word from a friend
Provision that came just in time
Psalm 103:2 reminds us, “Forget not all His benefits.”
In other words: Don’t miss what God is doing. Don’t overlook His kindness. Train your brain—and your heart—to notice Him.
Because if we’re not looking for Him, we just might miss Him.
So here’s a simple but powerful question for you today:
What’s one way you can actively look for God’s goodness this week?
I’d truly love to hear.
Let’s remind each other that He is closer and kinder than we sometimes believe.
With you in the noticing,
Em
