You Have Full Access—So Why Aren’t You Using It?
How to Stop Living Like You’re Locked Out of the Kingdom and Walk in Your God-Given Authority
In a previous job I needed a card to gain access to the building, use the lifts, enter the floor I worked on, and sometimes even to get into particular meeting rooms.
One morning I arrived at work to find that my card had expired. I could no longer enter any of the places I was used to accessing. I had to prove who I was to be accompanied to my office. I wasn’t free to go where I wanted in the building. In addition, that very same day, the auto top-up for my bus pass failed and I was refused entry to the bus.
Double denial of access in the same day.
It highlighted how I took for granted these two small pieces of plastic that gave me freedom and access to go about my day. So often tossed to the bottom of my bag and yet they held immense value in enabling me to live an unhindered life.
Jesus gives us “ready access” (Hebrews 4) to God. He’s made a way for us to walk in freedom, to “have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door.” (Matthew 16:19 MSG)
I wonder, are we taking the access Jesus won for us for granted?
Have we forgotten the access to both the Father and the Kingdom that we’ve been given?
What Jesus has done for us is provide access to God that will never expire. When you know you have access to somewhere, you enter that place with confidence knowing you belong, you walk in authority. It’s the same for bringing the Kingdom to earth right now. Our prayers can be unhindered, reflecting the understanding that we have access to the throne room, to the King of Kings, the Ruler of all and that there are “no more barriers between heaven and earth.” (Matthew 16:19 MSG)
We’ve been given access to God’s Kingdom. Let’s start walking in it.
Let’s not be tiptoeing around issues when we pray. Jesus is with us and even praying on our behalf. “So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give.” (Hebrews 4:16 MSG) Full access to the Father. Full access to the Kingdom. Full, never expiring, unrestricted, complete and free, access.
