What If You’re Believing a Lie?
Your mind is listening—what are you telling it?
Ever heard of the placebo effect? Science has shown that when people believe they’re taking medication, they can often experience real physical results—even when it’s just a sugar pill. Their belief literally changes their biology.
Now, imagine what happens when you feed your brain a steady diet of thoughts like:
I’m not good enough.
God doesn’t really care about me.
Nothing ever changes for me.
Your brain will search for evidence to confirm what you believe—whether it’s true or not.
Psychologists call this confirmation bias—our tendency to interpret situations in a way that reinforces our preexisting beliefs. If you believe you're a failure, your brain will highlight every mistake and ignore every success. If you believe you're unlovable, your brain will filter out every sign of affection and magnify every rejection.
But here’s the good news: When you align your thoughts with God’s truth, everything shifts. Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Studies show that speaking positive, truth-based affirmations over yourself can actually rewire your brain, creating stronger neural pathways that reinforce confidence, peace, and faith.
So this week, let’s take inventory:
What words and thoughts are you repeating?
Are they bringing life—or reinforcing lies?
What one truth from God’s Word can you start declaring over yourself?
Challenge: Comment and tell me one truth you’re choosing to believe today. Let’s start reshaping our minds with God’s reality.
Cheering you on,
Em

Choosing to focus on the truth: God is still in the miracle business.

I speak affirmations over my daughter before we pray every night. Great post!
