Hello!
2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” But how? Paul’s letter to the Philippians (4:4–9) gives us a clear checklist:
Pray when anxious.
Practice gratitude.
Fill your mind with what’s true, noble, pure, lovely, and praise-worthy.
Put these virtues into practice.
That’s the game-changer: we have to do it, not just know it.
Revisit Philippians 4:8 whenever negativity tries to barge in. Run each thought through that filter, and if it doesn’t pass, evict it. This is how we honour God with our minds and find His peace guarding our hearts.
Take a moment today: Jot down a recurring negative thought. Then rewrite it in line with biblical truth. Watch how your perspective shifts!
Let’s keep growing and going,
Em
If we could learn to filter our thoughts through the filter of scripture, we would find the negative, sinful, spiritually unproductive thoughts taken into captivity and cast down. Thank you Em, for bringing this truth to the focus.
Amen! So good!
Thanks for the reminder!
