Wow! Awesome thoughts and perspectives. When temptation comes or sinful pictures captivate my mind I immediately tell Satan, "In the Name of Jesus leave!" Every morning a little phrase is part of my prayers, "Not today Satan!" It takes time but this discipline helps and cleanses my mind. I also, throughout the day recite a favorite verse, (my more meaningful translation), "Focus on Jesus, the creator and sustainer of my faith."

Thanks Ray, as always. Reminds me of the song with the line, “Tell the devil, no not today!”

The first thing that comes to mind is to get distance from circumstances that give me trouble. The steady diet of what I consume feeds my actions. This can be media. It can also be who I spend time with. It's challenging when there are people in our circle (say a co-worker) that can influence us negatively. We can be be the light, but it requires awareness. I know of a working relationship in my life that was so tough (a promotion I received was resented) , but God did work it out over time.

1 Timothy 6:11 sums up what we need to pursue instead of sin. Righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. It is easy to become hardened by trials of life, but God encourages tender-heartedness. I guess being firm without harshness in our relationships helps. He does make connections to what we truly need.

So true Adriane. Sometimes we're not even fully conscious about what we're consuming. I guess also the importance of taking thoughts captive so that we can consider what it is that's influencing and feeding us.
