Life Isn’t Jenga: Stop Bracing for Everything to Fall Apart
How to Trade Fear and Uncertainty for a Firm Foundation in Jesus
Jenga.
It’s a funny game. We build the tower knowing—expecting—it to fall. We carefully place piece upon piece, holding our breath as the structure wobbles, adding blocks despite the teetering, until finally, one too many makes the whole thing come crashing down.
Sometimes, I fall into the trap of approaching life the same way.
I take a step forward, step out in faith, make a move, yet deep down, I’m subconsciously waiting for the whole thing to crumble. Maybe you’ve been there too—trying to build something meaningful while secretly fearing it will all collapse. The job won’t last. The relationship will fall apart. The dream will never come to pass.
But God is not Jenga.
He is not teetering in His faithfulness. He is not wobbly in His plans for you. He is not anxiously holding His breath, hoping things don’t fall apart. He is steadfast. And He wants your life to be built on something unshakable, not a structure of fear or fragile circumstances.
The best news?
Your security isn’t dependent on you perfectly placing
every block of your life in alignment.
Your steadfastness comes from the Lord, whose love:
Never ceases (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Endures forever (Psalm 118)
Is a sure foundation (Isaiah 28:16)
Oh, that we would stop clutching at the blocks of our lives, anxiously trying to build something strong in our own power! Instead, let’s surrender every single piece and allow Jesus to be the One who builds. Because when He builds—nothing, not even the gates of hell, can tear it down (Matthew 16:18)!
Do you ever find yourself living like life is a Jenga tower, bracing for everything to fall apart? What’s one area where you need to trust God to build something unshakable?
Em
ALL the time! I excel at bracing for the other shoe to drop. 🤦♀️😆 And then wonder why I’m weary to the bone.
